Jordan Strategy Forum Held a Discussion Session to Discusses the Role of the Private Sector in the Development of the City of Amman

The Jordan Strategy Forum (JSF) organized a discussion session titled "Strengthening Partnerships with the Private Sector to Achieve Amman's Developmental Visions." The event featured Engineer Mustafa Abu Ghoush, CEO of Amman Vision Investment & Development, alongside several prominent JSF members and guests from various sectors. The session, sponsored by KbW Ventures, focused on enhancing collaboration between the public and private sectors to drive major developmental projects in the capital, Amman.
 
Engineer Mustafa Abu Ghoush, presented an overview of the company’s ongoing projects, emphasizing its commitment to various sectors. He highlighted several current investments, including notable medical, commercial, and entertainment initiatives. Among these, Abu Ghoush pointed out the Kingdom Healthcare and Medical Education Project, developed in partnership with the Saudi Jordanian Investment Fund and valued at 280 million Jordanian Dinars. He also emphasized the Amman Fun Land Project, a significant recreational and touristic development featuring an E-Karting racing arena, a world-class amusement park, restaurants, and commercial outlets covering 54,000 square meters along the airport road.
 
Looking ahead, Engineer Abu Ghoush outlined the company’s strategic plans for 2024-2027, which include key projects such as the Automotive City in Al-Madouna, Al Khaldi Medical Center, and the Youth Innovation Center in Ghamadan. He noted that 14 new investment opportunities will be marketed following the completion of necessary surveys and planning. One particularly exciting initiative is the development of new parks covering 80,000 square meters in collaboration with the private sector. These efforts align with the Greater Amman Municipality’s Strategic Plan (2022-2026) and the Economic Modernization Vision (2023-2033), aimed at enhancing the quality of life and promoting environmental sustainability, Abu Ghoush stated.
 
In addition, Engineer Abu Ghoush announced that the company is in the process of preparing documents for an electric vehicle (EV) charging station project to meet the increasing demand for electric mobility in Jordan. He explained that as the number of electric vehicles continues to rise, establishing an efficient charging infrastructure will be essential to support the sector’s growth and encourage wider adoption of EVs.
 
Al-Sharif Faris Sharaf, Chairman of the Jordan Strategy Forum, emphasized that this session represents a continuation of the JSF's ongoing efforts to strengthen cooperation between the public and private sectors. He highlighted the forum's recent event aimed at raising awareness about Public-Private Partnerships (PPP) and their various frameworks, which seeks to unify understanding among all stakeholders regarding the mechanisms of these partnerships. Sharaf further noted that this discussion session signifies a shift toward the practical aspects of collaboration, showcasing a real-world example of effective public-private partnerships in action to achieve desired objectives.
 
Engineer Abdul Rahim Al-Buqai, Chairman of the Jordan Petroleum Refinery Company (Jo Petrol) and moderator of the session, highlighted the transformative phase currently being experienced by the Greater Amman Municipality. He commended GAM’s strengthening collaboration with the private sector, noting that these partnerships are paving the way for innovation across various developmental sectors. Al-Buqai emphasized that engaging the private sector is crucial for enhancing the efficiency of future projects, which will ultimately have a positive impact on the local economy and significantly improve the quality of life for citizens.
 
Nisreen Barakat, CEO of the Jordan Strategy Forum, underlined the critical role that public-private partnerships play in achieving national development goals. She explained that these partnerships go beyond project financing and implementation, as they also foster the transfer of knowledge and technology, enhancing both sectors’ capacity to tackle future challenges. Barakat reiterated JSF’s commitment to providing a platform for constructive dialogue among stakeholders, promoting economic and social development in Jordan. She stressed that continued cooperation is essential for ensuring the sustainability of developmental projects and enhancing the quality of services provided to citizens.
 
The session concluded with an in-depth discussion on investment and development priorities for Greater Amman Municipality, focusing on key sectors that could support comprehensive urban development.
 
Participants also explored optimal strategies for urban development, infrastructure enhancement, and public service improvements that align with the needs and aspirations of Amman’s residents. Attendees further discussed the scope of private sector participation in various developmental projects, including infrastructure, real estate, and logistics services, emphasizing the importance of enabling the private sector to play a key role in developing vital projects.
