The Jordan Strategy Forum issued an analytical study entitled; “Jordanian Expatriates in the Gulf: Who Remits, How Much, and Why?” He based it on data collected through a questionnaire that he distributed to a representative sample of Jordanian expatriates working in the Arab Gulf countries in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriate Affairs. The study focuses on several aspects about Jordanian expatriates in the Arab Gulf countries, such as social and demographic characteristics and other factors. The forum analyzed these aspects and how they affect the level of expatriates’ income and their remittances, and came up with several recommendations aimed at maximizing the value of remittances and benefiting from them.

Real Economic Growth in Jordan : The Role of Investment at the Macro & Micro Levels

The main objective of this policy paper is to study the impact of remittances on real per capita income, inflation, import, trade deficit and financial development (deposits in banks, foreign currency deposits, lending). To achieve the objectives of the study, we used annual data for the period (1993-2016) for per capita income, imports, trade deficit, consumer price index (inflation), the percentage of credit granted to the private sector, deposits in banks, and deposits in foreign currencies.

The Jordan Strategy Forum completed the update of the Investor Confidence Survey in March 2017 to measure investors’ confidence and aspirations for the future. This survey assesses the economic situation and investment environment in Jordan from the point of view of Jordanian and foreign investors in the Kingdom. This initiative comes to enhance the results of the Jordanian Investor Confidence Index, which the Forum launched to measure investor confidence in the Jordanian economy on a monthly basis in three main axes: the monetary system, real economic activity, and the Amman Stock Exchange. The survey includes various questions that assess the extent of pessimism or optimism of investors in Jordan regarding the economic situation and investment environment in Jordan, in addition to open-ended questions to find out the reasons behind this.

Jordanian Expatriates - A Challenging Opportunity

The Jordan Strategy Forum issued a paper entitled: “Jordanian Expatriates: Opportunity and Challenge,” where the number of Jordanian expatriates is estimated at 15,782 people, the majority of whom reside in the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, and the number of Jordanians in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia alone is estimated at about 300,000 people (World Bank, 2016). . Moreover, the majority of workers in the GCC countries are highly skilled and are located in the IT, financial and medical sectors (Gharaibeh, 2016), and if for any reason these expatriates suddenly return to Jordan from any of the host countries, It is the ability of the Jordanian economy to absorb the return of its Jordanians must be addressed. Given the positive aspect of this issue, it will contribute to achieving what Jordan has not been able to do during the past years, which is a partial reversal of the brain drain that Jordan is suffering from.

Industrial Exports Jordan's Product Space - New Opportunities to Diversify Part 2

This study comes as a continuation of the first part of the Jordanian Products Space launched by the Forum, in which it studied the development of the Jordanian economy as an engine for economic growth, creating job opportunities, and stimulating investment in the Kingdom. The study methodology in the second part relies on the existing productive knowledge of Jordanian industries to study all available opportunities for expanding Jordanian exports. It analyzes two factors to determine the importance of the Jordanian economic product. The first is the “degree of development” of the product, which indicates its added value, and the “proximity” of the product, which indicates how close it is to Jordanian production knowledge.
